We are looking for a full time Deputy Store Manager to join our Team. 

The role:

  • To maximise sales and profitability by providing excellent customer service through 
    effective team leadership. Cover Store Manager in their absence
  • To successfully implement the retail operations strategic plan whilst being fully responsible and accountable for successfully operating a Food Store.  Ensuring great customer service is consistently provided as we well as managing the financial performance of the store and working to achieve all budget requirements, and all people management requirements.  
  • To lead, inspire and develop your team, spending time on the shop floor, making 
    sure that each and every colleague and customer is valued. To maximise sales and 
    profitability by providing excellent customer service through effective team 
    leadership.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  •        Effectively lead, engage, and develop a team
  •     Effectively develop and execute excellent customer service
  •     Oversee and assist in the control of all operating costs
  •     Working with Store Manager to effectively grow profits
  •     Responsible  
  •       Responsible for legal compliance and maintaining due diligence – Food Safety and Health and             Safety.
  •    Demonstrate the Society Aims, Values and the Management Charter.

  6. Develop improved colleague and store communications that assist in improving colleague engagement

Operational Management

  1.  Lead, engage and develop your team each in order that they may optimise their contribution to the business,
  2.  Earn customers’ loyalty through the quality of the products and services,
  3. Make sure colleagues have the tools, training and confidence to do their jobs,
  4. Have a strong plan in place and equip your team for all trade activities, events and promotions
  5. To identify and implement the correct managerial and staffing structure to provide optimum levels of customer service
  6. To recruit, train and develop the store team
  7. To agree and implement business and training priorities
  8. Application of the Society’s absence policy, ensuring that all staff receives a return to work interview

Operational Management

  1. Support the store business plan
  2. Achieve the targets of sales ,waste, costs and Net Surplus,
  3. Protect the Society through effective due diligence procedures and compliance monitoring,
  4. Maintain a high standard of store presentation, through effective use of the daily store walks,
  5. Achieve the agreed leakage target and delivery of the store Stock loss action plan
  6. Implement effective stock management controls and disciplines, to deliver outstanding availability.
  7. Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  8. To open and close the premises and ensure the site is secure
  9. To deliver excellent customer service, ensure the team deliver the highest standards of customer care
  10. To actively seek sales opportunities to increase sales in the store, and agree implementation of initiatives with 
    operations management
  11. To maintain a high standard of store presentation, through effective use of the daily store walks
  12. To achieve the agreed leakage target and ensure that all administration in the store is completed on time and 
    queries are resolved
  13. To follow the appropriate store stock and order procedures
  14. To ensure the society’s marketing policies are implemented through the effective implementation of 
    promotion campaigns and planograms
  15. To attend the store when required out of hours for emergencies
  16. To oversee the personnel costs ensuring they are within budget
  17. Ensure that the store complies with the age restricted and fuel dispensing/ receipt policy

Membership / Community Relations

  1. Act generally always to protect and develop the image of the Society; develop and support community activities, charitable projects, environmental initiatives, and local suppliers accordingly. To implement, administer and develop the Society’s policy on charity involvement, sponsorship, and environmental initiatives. 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  1. 4 years+ Retail experience
  2. Minimum Level 5 CMI qualification
  3. Ability to lead, engage and develop a team
  4. Ability to help identify and maximise sales opportunities
  5. Develop and execute excellent customer service
  6. Ability to assist in profit growth
  7. Ability to communicate/ liaise effectively with Manager 
  8. Knowledge of retail statutory legislation
  9. Ability to oversee costs, e.g. leakage, waste, people budget
